The first Aflac Corporate Social Responsibility Survey was conducted nationally to determine consumers’ thoughts about companies’ social responsibility and philanthropic efforts. The results found unique insights across generations and life stages as well as consumer loyalty to companies that give back.

Aflac in the Community

Aflac’s Corporate Citizenship Report is published each year in April. This report covers the company’s actions and activities in the calendar year 2013. It highlights the accomplishments emanating primarily from our U.S. headquarters located in Columbus, Georgia. We also maintain offices in New York; Columbia, South Carolina; Omaha, Nebraska; and Japan and are consistently driving toward accepted best practices in those areas.

Our goal is to improve and enhance the company’s approach to sustainability efforts and reporting, with greater adherence to accepted business standards such as GRI reporting. To gather information for this report, the Aflac Corporate Social Responsibility Team, led by Corporate Communications, surveyed a diverse group of offices and individuals representing the company’s employee-led Green Team, Human Resources, IT, Procurement, Legal, the Diversity Council, Internal Communications, Investor Relations, Facilities Management and Aflac Japan.

As an eight-time recipient of Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies designation and a 16-time recipient of Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For award, Aflac believes that a key to our success is the spirit of trust that has been built over time. Within this report, we document our diverse workforce, our energy reduction efforts, our proven commitment to a great workplace and our predisposition to conducting business in an ethical fashion.
