Rosario Ibáñez, SIFE Analyst
Texas A&M International University, 2004
When I first heard about Aflac’s involvement with SIFE, I thought the job sounded too good to be true! I don’t think anybody else is as committed and devoted to SIFE as Aflac is.
I came into the program designed for the Sales Support and Administration division. During my time here, I’ve worked on projects involving product development, sales, market and consumer research, sales force training and development, competitive intelligence, employee learning, marketing, and more, all in a year and a half. I’m excited that I’ve gained insights on the health insurance industry and that I’ve been exposed to Aflac’s steps in reaching the Hispanic market.
This program showed me how we work as a company, from our corporate culture, to the way we market and sell insurance to the consumer. Different career opportunities were laid in front of me by Aflac’s leaders. I had a couple of decisions to make: where in the company was the right place for me and what type of work I wanted to do. This is a problem I always wanted to have!
In February 2007, I got my first permanent job at Aflac. I’m an associate product manager in the Marketing division, helping to manage four lines of business: vision, dental, life, and long-term care insurance. The knowledge Aflac’s SIFE rotation gave me is invaluable! And it gave me such an advantage. Now I know how to move around the company and who to call when I need something. It has also increased my confidence. Aflac’s management and leadership helped me identify a job in which both the company and I would benefit. Also, I know I have great opportunity to move up the corporate ladder as I gain additional experience.
At Aflac, I’ve seen that we’re not only unique in terms of our products and the way we distribute them, but we also have the right people developing the most innovative initiatives to compete in our market.
Plus, Aflac’s culture is fascinating! It’s tough to describe it with plain words. Put in a simple way, I know I’m here to stay!
