2008 Aflac Bone Marrow Drive to Ensure Life

Steve Karas and Matthew WellingThe need for bone marrow registrants is great. Individuals with life-threatening diseases such as leukemia and lymphoma must find a donor whose tissue type matches their own. Ideal candidates for a match are usually from the same ethnic background and race.

After learning about the touching story of Steve Karas and Matthew Welling, Aflac wanted to do something to help others find donors. In December 2008, Aflac working with the National Marrow Donor Program will conduct bone marrow drives across the country to help find matches. It is our hope is to register sales agents and employees so that more lives can be saved; just like little Matthew Welling.
