Computerworld Magazine ranks insurer among the top 25 companies on its annual list
Columbus, Ga. – June 28 – Aflac has been selected as the 25th-best workplace for information technology (IT) professionals according to Computerworld Magazine. This honor is part of the weekly magazine's 13th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey published in the June 19th issue and online at Computerworld.com. Aflac has ranked among this list since 1999.
“It is again an honor to be listed in Computerworld's Best places to work in IT,” said Gerald Shields, Senior Vice President and CIO at Aflac.” This ranking is a result of the hard work and great IT talent that we have at Aflac. We are committed to doing all we need to do to attract and retain top IT talent, and we are fortunate to work for a great company.”
Since 1994, Computerworld's annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention.
“The recipients of this year's Best Places to Work represent a diversity of industries from technology to finance to pharmaceuticals,” said Don Tennant, editor in chief, Computerworld. “However, each organization is united by a common theme—they embrace the value of IT talent within the workplace and the impressive contributions that these professionals make on a daily basis.”
The Best Places to Work is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management." The lists are compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
The Computerworld announcement follows Aflac recently receiving the 2006 CIO 100 award for a second consecutive year, an honor recognizing organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of excellence in information technology.
