Aflac Incorporated Receives Its Highest Ranking to Date on the Fortune 500 List

COLUMBUS, Ga. - April 6, 2005 - In its 11th consecutive year of appearing on the Fortune 500 list, Aflac Incorporated received its highest ranking since its first showing on the prestigious list in 1995. The insurance giant ranked at No. 158, moving up 14 places from its 2004 position.

The Fortune 500 list also ranked Aflac among the top three life/health insurance companies in the country. The Columbus-Ga based insurer maintained its lofty position in this category from the previous year's ranking.

"We're very pleased to not only remain on the list, but to improve our standing as well. Improving our company, our customer service, and making Aflac better than the day before is what we strive to do every day," Daniel P. Amos, Aflac chairman and chief executive officer, said.

Fortune compiled the list based on company sales figures as reported in financial statements for the year ending Dec. 31, 2004. Revenue figures for all companies include consolidated subsidiaries and exclude excise taxes.

The complete Fortune 500 list appears in the magazine's April 18, 2005 issue and is also available online at fortune.com.
