Aflac Named One of America's Most Admired Companies by Fortune Magazine
COLUMBUS, Ga. - February 24, 2005 - Aflac has been recognized by Fortune as one of "America's Most Admired Companies" for the fifth consecutive year. Fortune also ranked Aflac as one of the top 10 insurance companies in the life, health insurance category.
"We are very pleased to be recognized by our peer companies as a company who is committed to providing quality service and insurance products to our customers," Aflac Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel P. Amos said.
Published annually by Fortune, the list serves as a definitive report card on corporate reputations. Each year the "Most Admired" rankings are determined by a survey of the country's top executives, directors and securities analysts who rank the top-performing companies within their own industries on eight attributes - innovation, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, and quality of products/services.
To identify the top ten in each category, Fortune asked voters to name the companies they most admired in any business from a pool that included last year's top quartile of finishers plus the top two on each industry list. The companies were ranked by revenues in 64 industries including large subsidiaries of foreign-owned companies.
