Carl Edwards And Aflac Soar To Victory At Phoenix International Raceway

No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion Captures Checkered Flag in Kobalt Tools 500

Columbus, Ga. – Nov. 15, 2010 – NASCAR driver Carl Edwards knows his way around the track — and he proved it Sunday afternoon when he and the No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion team flew into victory lane at the Kobalt Tools 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

“I am very excited about my win at Phoenix. There’s nothing like the feeling of crossing the finish line first, and it’s great to do it under the wing of Aflac, a company that demonstrates great performance both in racing and in the way they take care of their policyholders when they are sick or hurt,” said Edwards. “I’m looking forward to ending the season with another trip to victory lane and to carrying this momentum into greater success in 2011.”

Edwards led 93 of the 312 laps en route to his 17th career Sprint Cup Series win and first at Phoenix. He is currently in fourth place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings. “As the primary sponsor, we are thrilled with Carl’s victory and celebrate what has been a valuable relationship to us and our business,” said Michael Zuna, Aflac senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “Carl certainly understands the value of Aflac insurance policies as a safety net — both on and off the track – not only is he a great driver for our team, he’s also a policyholder.”
