COLUMBUS, Ga., April 21, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --Aflac Chairman and CEO Daniel P. Amos issued the following statement regarding the passing of civil rights pioneer Dr. Dorothy Height.
"The entire Aflac family is saddened by the passing Tuesday of civil rights pioneer Dr. Dorothy Height, a quiet giant in the movement for equal rights for all people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and her large circle of friends.
"Aflac was proud to have honored Dr. Height several years ago with a special appreciation award for her 'devoted service to our country,' presented at our annual luncheon in Washington D.C. in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus. Many Aflac board members, employees and independent agents have reminded me that they were honored to meet her and to spend time in the presence of a legendary fighter for equality. She will be sorely missed by all Americans."
