John Harmeling is Aflac's senior vice president of Worksite Marketing. He is responsible for developing and driving growth strategies across the U.S. business, including B2B marketing, product marketing, sales force recruiting, broker marketing, sponsorship and cause marketing and account and policyholder retention. He also oversees sales and marketing programs to attract and grow target accounts through existing and new channels, and his team carries brand management responsibility as well. Mr. Harmeling joined Aflac from Experian, a leading data and marketing services provider, where he served as strategy and business development executive. Previously he led the eCommerce enterprise sales team at Bank of America, which during his tenure boasted leading U.S. market share in online sales of financial products.
Mr. Harmeling also gained experience at AIG, where most recently he led the Accident and Health Profit Center for AIG Benefit Solutions. While at AIG, he headed marketing and worksite marketing functions in the UK/Ireland, Southeast Asia, and the United States.
He earned his bachelor's degree at Duke University and his master's in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
